Marilyn Lott - Delicious Autumn! Don’t you find that autumn is The most delicious time of the year? The beauty is so overwhelming That it almost brings a tear The golds and reds and yellows Decorate our world just right As each brilliant tree is displayed Oh, what a tremendous sight The chill in the air is so very fresh Though you must bundle up, of course It reminds me of an old post card With a wagon pulled by a horse So spend some time out of doors As it happens way too seldom A time of year I enjoy the most The lovely and delicious autumn! |
Autumn of my life - Bobby Goldsboro In the spring of my life she came to me She brought sunshine where winter winds had blown Then I took her for my wife in the spring of my life And she brought me a joy I'd never known And the years they went by in the spring of my life And in summer she blessed me with a child Love continued to grow in the summer of my life And in every morning sun I saw her smile But in the autumn of my years I noticed the tears And I knew that our life was in the past Though I tried to pretend, I knew it was the end For the autumn of my life had come at last Now what, what do you say to a child of ten? How do you tell him his daddy's goin' away? Do I tell him that I reached the autumn of my life And that he'll understand some winter's day? Now a rose can't be found on a snow-covered ground And the sun cannot shine through cloudy skies But I'm richer, you see, for the years she gave to me And I'm content in the autumn of my life |
October's Party - George Cooper October gave a party; The leaves by hundreds came- The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples, And leaves of every name. The Sunshine spread a carpet, And everything was grand, Miss Weather led the dancing, Professor Wind the band. The Chestnuts came in yellow, The Oaks in crimson dressed; The lovely Misses Maple In scarlet looked their best; All balanced to their partners, And gaily fluttered by; The sight was like a rainbow New fallen from the sky. Then, in the rustic hollow, At hide-and-seek they played, The party closed at sundown, And everybody stayed. Professor Wind played louder; They flew along the ground; And then the party ended In jolly "hands around." |
